SPRING HAS SPRUNG! FINALLY.
"Sit
quietly, doing nothing. Spring comes and the grasses grow by
themselves."
--- John Lennon
"I would not
exchange my leisure hours for all the wealth in the world." ---
Sting
Surprise and
anticipation is everywhere with the ice completely melting on the
Big Lake, boats out fishing for perch, smelt, salmon, the first crocus
poking through the last snowfall. We love that it’s lighter later, the
robins are back, wild asparagus appears in our Frittatas, sautéed morels
from the shadows appear on crostini, an daffodils begin to dance across
spring green lawns as young leaves start to unfurl. Then one day Spring
pops and Saugatuck 's skies become a fairyland with flowering apple,
pear, crabapple, peach, cherry, dogwood and lilac trees welcoming all. They can make us giddy for weeks . . . til romance is
everywhere. Masses of tulips of every hue engulf Holland and stores are
getting their Spring sprucing up. Warm breezes carry The Sounds of
Saugatuck so that jazz in the air leaves a light hearted optimism
behind.
