Art 'Round Town

"Saugatuck is One of the Top Five Art Towns in America"   American Style Magazine

Saugatuck and Douglas have a tradition of nurturing art galleries and working artists with Champagne Openings, Meet the Artist Receptions, and Artist Studio Tours.

All year long - the galleries are open featuring figurative, still life, and landscape oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, sculpture, glass, wood, and pottery collections - you name the medium, we have working artists creating it and galleries exhibiting it! Come celebrate the creative process with us!!

Some of our favorites include:

Good Goods is proud to offer Sticks Object Art and Furniture handcrafted in the United States - always American craft and fine designs by 12 jewelry design craftsmen, pottery, and hand blown glass artists - and the magical world of Nancy Swan Drew.

Petter Gallery - visit one of Saugatuck's oldest galleries exhibiting over 56 artists. As you view the paintings, be sure to stop at The Hand Blown Glass and Raku Gallery and The Sculpture Barn. Enjoy figurative oils by Clayton Beck III, Craig Blietz, and Lisa Vander Hill, sculptures by Gert Olsen, Sheila Bohann, Harold Larsen, pastels by Win Jones, and bronze sculptures by Fran Larsen, and Jim Miller-Melberg

For thirty-nine years The Button Gallery has represented over thirty artists including Debra Reid Jenkins' Michigan landscapes, imagery oil landscapes of Max Matteson, the floral watercolors of Molly Baker, and oils by Cora Bliss Taylor. All a joy to behold.

Gebben Gray Gallery - the area's newest and one of the most well respected galleries spotlighting Theresa Gray's captivating dune grass drawings, Carlos Ferguson's glimpse of the ordinary in paintings and dioramas. Keiko Ishii's printmaking, the landscapes of Richard Kooyman, and Melanie Park, the pastels of Teresa Bollwerk, and the amazing wood and steel sculptures of Renaissance Man Eddie Parach.

Your Artist Within

Listen to your curiosity and follow your imagination of what you may be able to create!  Join one of the many art classes around town.  Then, stay at Wickwood and we’ll nurture and encourage you in classes that go on all year long.

Saugatuck Center for the Arts in conjunction with Ox Bow and Kendall Art College – has a full schedule – classes in watercolor, still life portraiture, calligraphy, landscape oils, bead making, silk painting and sculptures abound.

James Brandess Studio and Gallery on Butler Street finds James often working on one of his vivid paintings in his window - a wonder to watch work! James creates oil still life and landscapes, paintings, watercolors, prints, postcards, posters and periodically teaching classes. A town treasure!

Marcia Perry's Sculpture Studio - Wander through Marcia's world where she interprets art from her love of native Michigan trees. She interprets the shapes, texture and patterns of wood and sculpts them into one of a kind works of art - bowls, chairs, benches, animals and more.

Water Street Gallery - almost next to Wickwood but moving to Center Street in Douglas - unfolding exhibits of Saugatuck's local artists and works on paper; watercolors, glass, oils by Stephen Hansen, Mary Hatch, Byron Gin, Jona Henka. Ann Corlett Wiley, and Karla Wyss Tye.

Amazwi Gallery - is moving across Culver Street with the amazing art of contemporary African artists from Zulu, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nairobi, South Africa, Ghana, and The Sudan are brilliantly exhibited.

The Peachbelt Studio & Gallery - Dawn Stafford's "Blue Pears" exhibited at Everyday People Ca moves everyone. Visit Dawn Friday, Saturday, or Sunday at her studio.
